Ryan Claycomb, former associate dean of the Honors College and founding director of the WVU Humanities Center, has been named acting dean of the Honors College effective November 26. Honors College Dean Ken Blemings, who will serve as interim dean of the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, plans to return to the Honors College once a permanent Davis dean is named.

At WVU, a dynamic AmeriCorps cohort called The Collaborative is sponsored by the Center for Service and Learning. The Collaborative’s VISTA members serve with a focus on fostering collaborative partnerships between the University and other stakeholders in the state – including local governments, nonprofit organizations, and concerned citizens – to battle West Virginia poverty in a variety of ways.
The Collaborative @ WVU hosted a Service Lock-In for Night Serve Friday (Nov. 9), sharing the mission of National Hunger and Homelessness Week and increasing awareness. More than 60 volunteers served 220 hours, made 183 scarves and 36 encouragement cards, all while watching two powerful and informative documentaries about homelessness and food insecurity in the U.S.
West Virginia University Thursday (Nov. 15) placed a number of students on interim suspension, and additional students may face disciplinary action, related to events that occurred at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house Nov. 10, 2018. The Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter has also been placed on interim suspension.
