Albeir Mousa, a professor of vascular surgery, has used an innovative, faster method for ruling out DVT in patients before they have an ultrasound. He and his research team found that measuring the level of a specific protein—called D-dimer—in a patient’s blood may predict whether a time-intensive ultrasound is warranted. The “Annals of Vascular Surgery” has published the team’s results.

The Mountaineers open their 2018 home season against Xavier on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m., and it is the first of two Dollar Days planned for the year. All tickets and select concessions will be available for $1 each. Additionally, it's Poster Night, and all fans in attendance will receive a free Mountaineer schedule poster featuring the team's nine seniors.

This training is required annually by the WV Department of Environmental Protection for any person (paid employee or not) who handles chemicals and/or unwanted material in a laboratory and may include, but is not limited to faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows, interns, researchers, technicians, supervisors/managers, and principal investigators who work unsupervised.
