Founded in 1977, the Council has upheld a presence throughout the evolving response to women’s issues. The WVU Council for Women’s Concerns, which promotes the equality of all women in the academic and local communities, is seeking applicants to fill upcoming vacancies. The Council membership is composed of WVU faculty, staff, students and affiliates, as well as community members.

On Thursday, April 4, WVU Tech’s Appalachian Writers’ Lecture will feature renowned author and essayist, Ann Pancake. The lecture will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Carter Hall auditorium. Known for her distinctive writing style and her Appalachian settings and characters, the award-winning Pancake will share and discuss some of her work, including her 2015 collection of novellas and short stories Me and My Daddy Listen to Bob Marley.

Get your running shoes ready and join us for a family-friendly 5K hosted by the WVU Student Association of Public Health April 7. We'll have games, prizes, snacks, face painting and a free kids fun run to kick off the event. Register before Sunday (March 24) to receive a T-shirt.

Erik Herron, the Eberly Family Professor of Political Science and his collaborators, are researching the vulnerability of states that border a hostile, larger power and how that proximity affects the ability of those countries to provide basic services to their people. In this case, that power is Russia.

Joseph Sullivan, a sophomore computer science major, has been awarded a summer internship with the German Academic Exchange Service – or DAAD – Research Internships in Science and Engineering program. Sullivan is the first WVU student to be awarded this opportunity.
