Instilling confidence in students to do the things they didn’t know they could may not be listed in an academic advisor’s job description, but it is something frequently mentioned in the nomination letters of this year’s recipients of the Nicholas Evans Excellence in Advising award at West Virginia University.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at WVU is currently seeking volunteer instructors to teach a wide variety of courses for our summer term, including the arts, literature, history, philosophy and religion, current events, political affairs, science, math, health and wellness and more for our campuses in Morgantown and Charleston.

A special edition of Art Up Close! today (April 17) will be an opportunity to get to know the new director of the Art Museum of West Virginia University. The program begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Museum Education Center Grand Hall, which is located near the corner of Patteson Drive and Morrill Way at the Evansdale Campus North Entrance. The event is free and open to the public.

Major James R. Pyles, (retired), who served with the Maryland State Police, will give a presentation about the heroin and opioid epidemic today (April 17) from 4 - 5 p.m. in the Heritage Room in University Place at West Virginia University Potomac State College. This event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Beginning fall 2019, students can choose from three new graduate degrees in the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, including Master of Arts degrees in Linguistics, Spanish and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Each degree comprises 30 credit hours, allowing students to easily add a graduate certificate, if desired.
