The men's basketball, rifle, golf and tennis teams received public recognition by the NCAA for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate scores. The four teams posted multiyear APRs in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport.

The rifle team ended its 2018-19 season with many accomplishments. For the first time ever, the Mountaineers hosted the NCAA Rifle Championships at the WVU Coliseum and finished second overall.

Acting on a tip, University Police arrested Cheickna Kagnassy, a 21-year-old freshman pre-business major from Columbia, Maryland, at his residence in Vandalia Hall Wednesday evening, Deputy Chief Phil Scott said. Scott said a concerned citizen notified police that Kagnassy had spoken of carrying out a “shooting spree,” then committing suicide. He said no weapons were found at Kagnassy’s residence.
