February is Black History Month, and in social studies classrooms throughout the United States, it may be the only time of the year when students are exposed to diverse histories. CEHS experts in social studies education, Tiffany Mitchell Patterson and Natasha Murray-Everett, hope to change that.

The Community Music Program is gearing up to offer its Strings fling in March, with the start of two courses.
Larry Kruk, head women’s basketball coach at West Virginia University Potomac State College has been named the 2019-20 Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year.
West Virginia University Potomac State College is one of only 10 colleges authorized to offer the West Virginia Invests Grant Program. This is a state-funded ‘last-dollar-in’ financial aid program designed to cover the cost of basic tuition and fees for associate degree programs in high-demand fields.
Brad Smith, former Intuit CEO and current Executive Chairman, will be giving a public lecture at Vantage Ventures at 5:30 p.m. on March 5. His talk is titled "Education and Entrepreneurship — A Blueprint for the 21st Century."
The Douglas Kilmer Bankruptcy Law Fund will cover costs associated with establishing an advanced bankruptcy course at WVU Law. The fund will also provide a scholarship each year to a student who demonstrates excellence in bankruptcy law, either by receiving the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence or by excelling in bankruptcy-related classwork and extra-curricular activities.
