At the end of March, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice named Dr. Clay Marsh, the state’s COVID-19/Coronavirus Czar. While Marsh will continue his work with the state, in June he will begin to transition back into his position as West Virginia University's vice president and executive dean for Health Sciences. Moving forward, Marsh will continue to provide his invaluable insight and guidance as West Virginia slowly reopens and as the University plans for the return of students in the fall.

The Big 12 Conference Board of Directors today approved a phase in for student-athletes to return to campus to engage in voluntary activities related to sport participation. Beginning June 15 football student-athletes will be permitted to access campus athletic facilities and support personnel for voluntary conditioning and training exercises. Volleyball, soccer and cross country student-athletes are able to return July All other Big 12 student-athletes may return to campus for voluntary sport-related activities July 15.
Dr. Dayna Charbonneau is responsible for the mental health and wellness for WVU student-athletes as the department's director of clinical and sport psychology.
Members of minority communities, disproportionately affected by the virus to date, are especially encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. Testing will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday (May 22) at the Big Lots parking lot in Westover, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (May 23) at the WVU Coliseum parking lot and at Mountainview Elementary.
