A collection of new WVU initiatives, partnerships and redesigned academic pathways are answering a nationwide teacher shortage — felt deeply in the Mountain State’s hills and hollows — by meeting potential teachers where they are and creating a sustainable path toward the education field.

Approximately 30 administrative and academic units have successfully transitioned from Cisco hardware to Zoom Phone since January, along with the Beckley and Keyser campuses, and Jackson’s Mill. Units that still need to transition can expect to receive a 30-day notice before their scheduled migration.
The “Art, Healing and Friendship: Remembering Dr. Arthur I. Jacknowitz” exhibit will celebrate the beloved pharmacy professor through May 2026. A reception and unveiling is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Health Sciences Center Pylons.

The WVU Summer Undergraduate Research Vision Research Fellowship Program provides students from across the country with basic biochemistry and visual neuroscience research experience in areas that explore blinding diseases and new diagnostic treatment methods.
