As the Week of Purpose begins, Purpose Center Director Cate Schlobohm is issuing an invitation to University faculty and staff.
Hello, Faculty and Staff,
The fourth annual WVU Week of Purpose is underway starting today (Sept. 22), and I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities available to connect with your Strengths and with our WVU community.
We are especially excited about an upcoming workshop, “Knowing the Strengths of Our Students.”
At 1 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 23) and 11 a.m. Friday (Sept. 26), I will present the findings of data collected during New Student Orientation and through Gallup surveys to help understand the top natural talents and strengths of our students
Knowing the Strengths of our students can help us form better connections with them and help us tailor opportunities to let their strengths shine.
I also want to make you aware of two four-week opportunities that begin in October that are designed to help you better understand your Strengths and how to best apply them in your work and leadership styles. Both courses will bring together small learning pods of up to 20 participants for interactive experiences designed to help you apply your talents in practical and impactful ways.
The Strengths-Based Career Development Pod will meet in-person on Wednesdays, beginning at noon on Oct. 8 in the Mountainlair. This pod is a perfect opportunity to learn the foundations of CliftonStrengths®, build a personal brand, translate your talents into transferable skills, and practice Strengths-based networking within the WVU community.
The Strengths-Based Leadership Pod is a virtual opportunity that will meet on Tuesdays, beginning on Oct. 21, on Zoom. This pod allows current and aspiring leaders to explore how your Strengths impact your leadership style, how to meet the needs of your team, how to work with others who lead differently, and how to give feedback that resonates.
Our goal at the Purpose Center is to help everyone identify their natural talents and passions and use them to make a positive difference.
Exploring our Strengths and finding purpose drives us to be the change we want to see in the world, encourages self-reflection and provides a sense of happiness and satisfaction that allows us to show up as our best selves.
