West Virginia University students and employees are encouraged to be vigilant as University Police received a report of a robbery/car-jacking that happened on May 9 at approximately 3:30 p.m. in front of 265 Prospect Street. At that time, one suspect approached the driver of a silver Nissan Sentra with a Pennsylvania license plate, pushed the driver away from the vehicle and fled with the vehicle towards High Street. No weapons were used, and no injuries were reported.

The University will host a vaccination clinic today ( May 7) from 1-4 p.m. at the Student Rec Center in the upper gym. Anyone interested in receiving a Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer or Moderna vaccine may walk in on a first-come, first-served basis. Both first and second doses will be offered for Pfizer and Moderna.

Returning in an online format, this Teaching and Learning Commons end-of-semester faculty development event CELEBRATE 2021 will be held May 12 at 9 a.m.
An international student who has immersed himself in the “cultural heartbeat” of his new community, a first-generation student graduating with a cumulative 4.0 grade-point average who had no access to high school college-prep courses and a Black woman who aspires to bridge the gap between research and clinical care to improve health disparities are among the graduating seniors to receive West Virginia University’s highest student honor, the Order of Augusta. The eight are among 50 students named WVU Foundation Outstanding Seniors.
This year, 49 students participated in the MVP program and 40 completed the series of trainings. Participants engaged in meaningful discussion and reflection on the topic of community service and the role in serving the community with quality. This idea struck students as a unique means of decreasing the effects of social isolation while exploring how they can support others.
