When Emily Certain left Long Island for college, she planned to design theater sets, not spacecraft. However, a single rocket launch changed everything, and after submitting 1,000 internship applications, WVU gave her a chance.

The WVU Native American Studies Program will host its annual Peace Tree Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Monday (Oct. 13) at the WVU Peace Tree, located between Martin Hall and Elizabeth Moore Hall, and Chebon Kernell will deliver “The World is What We Create it to Be: Rebuilding with Indigenous Narratives” at 6:30 p.m. in the Mountainlair, Gluck Theatre.

WVU will retire the Flex protocol for new submissions on Nov. 9 as part of the transition to the new Institutional Review Board module in the Research Administration Portal. This change won’t affect current Flex studies in WVU+kc, and Flex studies approved before Nov. 9 will be migrated to WRAP.

Undergraduates from all majors are encouraged to submit abstracts showcasing their scholarly work to be presented at the 8th Annual Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium from 1–5 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Mountainlair.
