The WVU Dependent Education Scholarship deadline to submit applications for the spring 2022 semester is Nov. 1. Eligible students include dependent children of WVU, WVU Research Corporation and University Innovation Corporation benefits-eligible employees.

The College of Media partners with PolitiFact, a Pulitzer Prize–winning news organization, to help train student journalists on how to properly fact-check political claims. Lou Jacobson, a senior correspondent at PolitiFact, joined Bob Britten’s Editing and Curation class in-person again after more than a year of pandemic-related remote learning.

SEARCH cohort  

WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital welcomed its second cohort of Project SEARCH interns on Aug. 30. Five interns from Monongalia, Marion and Taylor counties are participating in the program this year. Project SEARCH is an international transition program that has served more than 30,000 youth with disabilities.

This seven-session, web-based conference series, beginning today (Oct. 5), will provide information on genetic services for medically underserved populations, focusing on the rural Appalachian region. The goal is to set an agenda for care provision and research in the Appalachian region.

Brad Humphreys and Alexander Cardazzi, both of the Chambers College, found that maintaining smooth roads may lead to increased traffic speeds and decreased crash rates. Their study, published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, was funded through an interagency agreement between the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Science Foundation.
