A regional innovation consortium led by West Virginia University along with the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University and the United States Research Impact Alliance has been selected as a semifinalist for the prestigious National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines $160 million funding opportunity aimed at driving economic transformation through technological innovation.

The Office of Undergraduate Research is seeking judges for the 18th annual Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium scheduled to take place from 1-5 p.m. July 24 at the Mountainlair.
A research team led by Xingbo Liu, a WVU materials engineer, developed a device that can make and store electricity despite intense heat and steam. The team’s fuel cell design could help build an electric grid capable of adapting to changes in energy supply and demand.
To be eligible for the research study, participants must be adults aged 18-65, diagnosed with high blood pressure, not currently involved in an exercise or yoga program, and not pregnant.
