Funded by the National Institute on Aging, the program prepares underrepresented students from MSTEM disciplines for a career in aging research or the health field. During the six-week summer internship, the scholars will receive hands-on research experience related to aging and health disparities in Appalachia.

In recognition of her exemplary peer support in the daily care of WVU research animals, Nancy Bonnell, Office of Laboratory Animal Resources, is the recipient of the 2023 Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee recognition award.
WVU faculty research mentors are encouraged to mentor burgeoning first- and second-year undergraduate researchers through the introductory-level Research Apprenticeship Program, a two-semester program that allows students from all majors with limited or no research experience to gain course credit and use federal work-study funds to work as research apprentices with faculty.
This intensive workshop designed to improve participants’ research skills with hands-on activities on a variety of resources, methods and tools will be held Aug. 7-9 in the Downtown Library. Applications are due May 30.
Controlling traumatic situations is synonymous with the daily duties of first responders, yet many mental health programs to combat the increasing stress they encounter are lacking. That’s why WVU researchers are identifying steps policymakers and community members can take to aid front-line workers.
This research was selected for a $650,000 grant from the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Foundational Knowledge of Plant Products program, which is implemented by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
