The $750,000 grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture aims to increase undergraduate student skills related to program evaluation methods and data analysis techniques, while ensuring sustained collaboration between WVU Extension and students.
Research
Faculty and student researchers at WVU and any other university or college in West Virginia can now request access to the new high performance computing cluster Dolly Sods. This graphic processing unit cluster is ideal for supporting specific computational tasks requiring extra speed and power, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, molecular dynamics for materials and drug discovery, image and video processing, and training neural networks.

While solutions for addressing the opioid crisis often involve either beefing up law enforcement or widening the scope of health services, WVU researchers said they believe the best approach is a synergistic mix of both. To illustrate which policies and strategies have been successful and to generate ideas for addressing the epidemic, they’re setting out to collect data from all 55 counties and 233 municipalities throughout West Virginia with funding from the National Science Foundation.
Faculty and staff are invited to join the biosafety team for activities, prizes and more information from 1-3 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 12) on the first floor commons area of the Health Sciences Center.
