Supporters of West Virginia University donated a record $18.1 million Wednesday (March 22) during the University’s sixth Day of Giving. More than 8,200 gifts were made during the 24-hour online fundraising event held across the University system, also a new record.

The state Division of Highways began a road-widening project this week along Beechurst Avenue, extending from Campus Drive to University Avenue. As part of the project, this area of Beechurst Avenue will be reduced to two-way traffic for the next several months. Work is expected to be completed in early August prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
A portion of parking lot ST-6 at the President’s House will be closed on Tuesday (March 28). The remainder of the lot will remain open. Normal parking lot access will resume Wednesday (March 29).
Ethan Nylander, a senior minoring in French, will lead the first “Read Around the World” event from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday (March 25) at the Morgantown Public Library.

Graduating medical students from the School of Medicine will span 21 states for their residency placements, with 43% of the class remaining in West Virginia. The placement announcements were made as part of the University’s recent Match Day celebration.
