Cross country and track and field alumna Amy Cashin has qualified to compete in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Cashin will represent Australia as she takes part in her second Olympic games. She finished 24th in the women's steeplechase at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
Athletics
The women's basketball team has added three home nonconference games to the schedule for the 2024-25 season. The Mountaineers will host Towson on Nov. 5, Pitt on Nov. 12 and Texas A&M on Nov. 15.
Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, is the site of this year's annual summer football event, presented by Totino's. WVU will be showcased Wednesday (July 10) with head coach Neal Brown speaking at 2:40 p.m. Wren Baker is also scheduled to be on site along with players Garrett Greene, Aubrey Burks, Sean Martin and Wyatt Milum.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams were named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America for the 2023-24 season, while four Mountaineers were honored as individual Scholar All-Americans.
The Mountaineers will mark 50 years of varsity status dating back to 1974. Throughout the season, fans can relive the program’s most memorable moments with acknowledgments of the team’s history.
A total of 1,298 student-athletes, including 65 from WVU, have been named to the 2024 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team. The team recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at conference institutions that participate in spring sports.
