Joseph Koontz  

This year’s finalists, both from the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, are Josiah Koontz, who oversees the University’s sheep flock at the Agronomy Research, Education and Outreach Center; and Crystal Smith, a teaching professor of animal and nutritional sciences who oversees the equine facility at the J.W. Ruby Research, Education and Outreach Center in Reedsville.

Physics of Basketball  

Basketball is more than the cheers of the crowd, the squeak of shoes on the hardwood floors and the hustle of 10 players on the court. What really makes that scoreboard light up is physics, and coaches at all levels can find the answers using technology that reveals the science behind shooting, passing and dribbling.

Golf  

The golf team gets back it today (March 15) at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia, hosted by Georgia Southern. The three-day event will be played at the Forest Heights Country Club.

Track  

The outdoor season opener for the Mountaineers is tentatively scheduled to kick off today (March 15) with the women’s 800-meter run. Competition continues through Saturday (March 16) in Tampa, Florida.
