To provide a welcoming environment for employees and their families, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program has moved to One Waterfront Place, Suite 2416. The new office space is designed to be confidential, comfortable and convenient.
FSAP is a free service available to employees and their dependents, offering access to professional staff and a safe, private space to sort through concerns, explore options and identify helpful resources.
Who can use FSAP?
The program is open to all active and retired administrators, faculty and staff, as well as their dependents. In addition, University departments and units may request workshops, training, coaching and consultations on a variety of topics.
How do you use FSAP?
Call the FSAP office to request information or schedule an appointment. A counselor will meet with you to discuss your concerns and provide an initial assessment of problem areas. Together, you and your counselor will explore options and determine a course of action that best meets your needs.
What does it cost?
FSAP services are free of charge. Each employee or dependent may schedule up to three visits per year with a counselor. If more extensive services are needed, staff will assist with referrals to community providers. When a referral is made, services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance. For insurance‑related questions, contact the WVU Benefits Office.
Are visits confidential?
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of FSAP services. All services are provided on a strictly confidential basis, unless otherwise required by law. Even if a supervisor recommends FSAP, no information about the nature of your concerns is released without your written consent. Participation does not jeopardize your job security.
How long does an appointment last?
Appointments are approximately one hour in length.
