To improve reliability and reduce service interruptions, ITS will upgrade Managed Printing servers to new, vendor-recommended software from March 16 through April 1.

Pharos, the University’s printing supplier, has recommended this update as the solution to recurring printer outages.

The work will occur in phases on a total of nine servers and 400 printers, resulting in minor changes to each screen. When the work is complete, you’ll see the same printing instructions, but in a slightly different order.

Machines will be updated at different times, depending on which server supports them. A large complex such as Health Sciences, for example, relies on multiple servers, so people in the same building or even on the same floor may see the update at different times.

Printers will only be offline for a few minutes when the software update is pushed out, so disruptions should be minimal.

MyPrinting devices used primarily by students also will be updated by April 1.
