WVU Tax Service issues 2025 W-2 update

Snow on top of Woodburn Hall

The 2025 W-2 forms are now available online for all current University employees under the MyHR tab at portal.wvu.edu.

Paper copies will be mailed on or before Monday (Feb. 2) to the home address of all WVU employees.

If you had a change of address, we request that you allow time for the post office to deliver your original form before requesting a duplicate copy.

After Feb. 9, duplicate copies can be requested by sending an email to tax@mail.wvu.edu. For verification purposes, please provide your name, current mailing address and month and birth date.

For your protection, do not provide your Social Security number via email when requesting W-2 information.

To protect personal information, employees should not access either their pay stub or W-2 from a public computer. For your security, when accessing either your pay stub or your W-2 form from home, use the WVU VPN. If you don’t have VPN installed, it can be downloaded at remote.wvu.edu

General questions concerning your W-2  can be directed to WVU Tax Services via email at tax@mail.wvu.edu. Please provide your name, contact telephone number, month and year of birth, and either your WVU ID or your employee number for verification purposes.

New for 2025, under the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act, employees who received qualified overtime compensation may potentially deduct the portion of pay that exceeds their regular rate of pay for overtime hours worked. The Act does not potentially permit a deduction of all overtime dollars earned, only on the amount paid in excess of an employee’s regular rate of pay or the “half” amount in the “time and a half” calculation.

Employers are to provide hourly employees with their potentially qualifying overtime wages. WVU has reported this amount for hourly employees with overtime wages in Box 14 on their 2025 Form W-2. The amount is marked “OT” for overtime. Please see the IRS website or your professional tax preparer to determine eligibility and for any questions you have concerning this potential tax deduction.

Note that WVU Tax Services cannot provide personal tax advice. Employees should consult their professional tax preparer for individual tax advice.
