Beginning with the 2026-27 academic year, the WVU Nursery School will transition to a full-day early childhood education model and be renamed the WVU Early Learning Institute.
Enrollment interest is being accepted for both the 3-year-old preschool program and pre-K classes.
The move to a full-day schedule represents a shift from the previous half-day model.
The WVU Early Learning Institute will operate from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and offer full-day programming designed to better align with the needs of working families. To support the new model, the facility has been updated to include a kitchen for on-site meal service, with additional enhancements planned for the outdoor learning space.
The expanded model will strengthen the WVU Early Learning Institute’s role as a laboratory school within the College of Applied Human Sciences, providing a day-long instructional environment, experiential learning opportunities for educator preparation, and applied research in child development and early learning.
Families interested in enrolling their child in the WVU Early Learning Institute must first submit the Enrollment Interest Form. Children enrolling in the 3-year-old program must be 3 years old by July 1, and children enrolling in pre-K must be 4 years old by July 1, in accordance with Monongalia County Schools eligibility guidelines.
