Each year, WVU joins federally funded educational institutions across the country in celebrating Constitution Day by providing an educational program about the U.S. Constitution.
The University community is invited to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution 238 years ago by attending a panel discussion titled “Universities, Academic Freedom and the Constitution” from noon to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 17) in College of Law, Fitzsimmons Event Hall.
As dynamics continue to shift within the federal government, the panelists will explore how our education system will also be affected.
Panelists include the following:
• Jerry Edwards, associate professor of law.
• John Estep, visiting associate professor of law.
• John E. Taylor, Jackson Kelly Professor of Law.
Join the conversation on the constitutional value of academic freedom, what obligations universities should have to maintain a positive learning environment for all students and students’ rights to free speech.
