To open the academic year, the Art Museum of WVU will host the August Frontline Professionals meeting at noon on Thursday, Aug. 20, in the Museum Education Center.
In addition to hearing updates from representatives with the WVU Hub and learning about opportunities available to University faculty and staff through the Art Museum of WVU, attendees will get an exclusive chance to learn about and explore the new exhibit, “Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist.”
As the Museum’s largest exhibition on record, it is returning home and expanding after a nationwide tour, and will open to the public on Aug. 21.
Lazzell was a WVU graduate who was among the first to bring modernist art to the United States.

Parking will be available in short-term lots near the Art Museum of WVU, 20 Fine Arts Drive, which is the former location of the Erickson Alumni Center located off Patteson Drive on the Evansdale area of campus.
Recommended parking areas are ST-1 across the street from the Art Museum and ST-9 at Evansdale Crossing.
Employees are also encouraged to check their existing permits for temporary lot options on the Evansdale area of campus and to consider taking the PRT.
Frontline Professionals meetings are held monthly at different campus locations and are open to all University faculty and staff, with a focus on those on the “front lines,” to provide information about new initiatives, changes, and updates from various areas across campus.
