Featuring professionally curated shows in the dome every other Friday, the WVU Planetarium and Observatory serves as a window to explore astronomical wonders on the Downtown area of campus.
Shows feature topics like supermassive black holes, stars, space exploration, gravitational waves, indigenous culture connections to astronomy and more.
“Earth’s Wild Ride” will take place at 8 p.m. and “Stars: Powerhouses of the Universe” at 9 p.m. today (Aug. 22).
After each show, attendees are invited to head to the rooftop telescope and view the night sky with an astronomer, weather permitting. It’s the perfect way to wind down after a busy week.
So, gather your friends, grab some dinner and head to the PL floor in White Hall to connect in the dome and get lost in the cosmos.
Special events like mediation sessions and shows in Spanish are usually added to the schedule, so be sure to bookmark the Planetarium website for a full schedule of shows and updates.
Shows are free and open to the public, but reservations are required due to limiting seating.
