The Student Experience project, one of four workstreams in the WVU Modernization Program, will soon launch several new technologies that will streamline and simplify the prospective student experience for the Spring 2026 admissions cycle and beyond.

Beginning July 29, prospective students will be able to use the new Blackthorn event management tool to register for campus tours and other admissions-related events scheduled for Nov. 1 and later. In early August, the new MyWVU Portal, will be used by undergraduate and graduate applicants across all WVU campuses when applying for the Spring 2026 semester and beyond.

Training is underway for Enrollment Management, college recruiters, WVU Potomac State College, WVU Tech, WVU Online and other campus stakeholders on the related tools, Blackthorn and Salesforce Learner Org. Additional trainings will be held throughout the summer and early fall. This will prepare staff who previously used the TargetX system for a smooth transition to the new platform.

Student Experience is a multi-year initiative to redesign the way the University does business, and create more personalized experiences.

Today’s higher education landscape is a much more competitive and fast-paced environment than when the current set of WVU tools and business processes were created. To remain competitive, the University needs systems and processes that let us innovate in ways that support students and help them easily and intuitively navigate WVU admission processes.
