To accommodate continued construction, the portion of North High Street from Prospect Street to Maiden Lane is now closed to all vehicular traffic until early August.
Vehicles driving across Maiden Lane will be detoured up the hill to Fife Avenue.
During this time, the North High Street exit for the top floor of the Mountainlair parking garage — lot ST-2 — will be closed. All drivers should both enter and exit the top floor of the garage through the College Avenue access point.
Additionally, as part of water line work beginning Monday (May 19), the Prospect Street and North High Street intersection may be closed to traffic on certain days. When this occurs, the portion of Prospect Street along Clark Hall will temporarily become a two-way street to accommodate drivers who park on the bottom floor of the garage (Area 9) or at Stewart Hall (Areas 23 and 25) and drivers accessing the Mountainlair loading dock.
This change, when needed, will allow drivers to both enter and exit Prospect Street from University Avenue. Signs will be placed along University Avenue to guide the detour, and cones will be placed along the centerline of Prospect Street to accommodate the two lanes.
The sidewalk along North High Street remains open on the Mountainlair side of the street.
This schedule is subject to change due to weather and other unavoidable circumstances. We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews work on critical projects to keep operations running smoothly at WVU.
