Making their debut public performance, members of the WVU Funk and Soul Ensemble will provide high energy, iconic grooves and soulful sounds at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 30) at the Mountainlair, Gluck Theater.
This newly formed ensemble is quickly making a name for itself by celebrating the timeless power of funk and soul music. Audiences can expect a dynamic evening featuring classics and deep cuts from legendary artists like Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Sade, Michael Jackson and many more.
“The Funk and Soul Ensemble is all about celebrating rhythm, emotion and community,” Joshua Swiger, the group’s director, said. “These students have worked incredibly hard to bring these iconic songs to life, and we can’t wait to share that passion with the Morgantown and WVU community.”
The concert is free, though a donation is suggested, and open to the public, and is a perfect opportunity for music lovers of all ages to enjoy a night filled with unforgettable melodies and infectious grooves.
