2025 Student Employee of the Year winners announced

Student Employees of the Year 2025

The Student Employee Appreciation Committee proudly recognizes Chayce Hill, a junior chemical engineering major, and Nishat Alam, a doctoral student in industrial engineering, as the Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year and Graduate Student Employee of the Year, respectively.

Hill was honored for his role as a critical material laboratory student worker with the West Virginia Water Research Institute, while Alam was lauded for her impactful work as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering.

Alam’s excellence also earned her recognition as the graduate runner-up in the Midwestern Association of Student Employment Administrators Graduate Student Employee of the Year Competition.

Their achievements were celebrated during a heartfelt virtual ceremony, featuring inspiring remarks from supervisors and University leaders that highlighted the exceptional contributions of these remarkable student employees.

The 2025 finalists included the following:

     • Daniel Duque Urrego, doctoral student at the Morgantown Campus.

     • Amanda Williams, undergraduate student from WVU Institute of Technology in Beckley.

     • Paige Burgos, undergraduate student from WVU Potomac State College in Keyser.

Additionally, Sadie Holland, a nominated undergraduate student, received recognition as a runner-up in the Midwestern Association of Student Employment Administrators community service category. While not selected as a finalist at WVU, Holland’s commitment to service has earned her this prestigious accolade at the regional level.

Congratulations to all these outstanding individuals for their dedication and hard work, which inspire us all.
