The WVU Police Department is taking the campus community “Behind the Badge” to introduce the dedicated police officers, campus safety officers and dispatchers who keep our University safe.
Brayden McIntyre, who serves as a public safety dispatcher while pursuing his bachelor’s degree in criminology, is passionate about serving the community he grew up in.
“I was born and raised here in Morgantown, and I have always felt such a strong sense of community with the extremely kind, welcoming people I encounter every single day both on and off campus,” McIntyre said. “Working part-time jobs around Morgantown was not satisfying my urge to help and give back to my community, which is the reason I find myself here with the Department, dispatching officers to calls for help."
His role has shown him just how vital dispatchers are in keeping our campus community safe and ensuring the safety of our officers. “Every day I go to work with a smile on my face, not only because I get to work with some of the most kind and welcoming people here, but also knowing that no matter what the call is, I am helping someone who is in need,” he said.
His dedication to service goes beyond his role in dispatch. He plans to continue helping others long after he graduates with hopes of pursuing a master’s degree in criminal psychology and a career with the FBI as a criminal investigator.
UPD is grateful to have McIntyre as part of its team and is thankful for his service.
