Accreditation self-study for campus community feedback closes today, dates set for HLC visit

Associate Provost for Curriculum and Development Louis Slimak, who also serves as the University’s accreditation liaison, has been leading efforts to gather input from across the WVU System to compile the report. 

The reaffirmation of the accreditation process consists of a self-study and Higher Learning Commission team visit to campus. 

Self-study

As part of its preparation for its reaffirmation of accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission, WVU has prepared the required self-study for feedback and comment from the University community.

The feedback form will be open for comments until the end of day today (Feb. 17).

The self-study includes reports from across the University system to demonstrate how the institution is meeting the HLC’s five evaluation criteria: 

  • Mission

  • Integrity — Ethical and responsible conduct

  • Teaching and Learning — Quality, resources and support

  • Teaching and Learning — Evaluation and improvement

  • Effectiveness — Resources, planning, and institutional 

HLC team visit

The HLC team site visit is scheduled for March 31 and April 1. 

During the visit, the team will hold meetings with the campus community for general feedback and to discuss specific topics related to the five criteria. Meeting topics, times and locations will be announced once they are finalized.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate at all points in the accreditation process to demonstrate their pride in the institution and investment in the process.
