Mountaineers from far and wide will come together in Morgantown this weekend (Oct. 18-20) to celebrate their alma mater, reminisce and create new memories by embracing both traditions and new events during WVU Homecoming.
Events today (Oct. 18) include:
The WVU Bookstore invites the University community to come out from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. today (Oct. 18) and see the newly remodeled Downtown Bookstore. While there, enjoy 20% of your entire purchase.
Faculty and staff are invited to join the celebration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. outside the Mountainlair offering a WVU Bookstore pop-up shop, photos with the Mountaineer mascot, music from U92 and more. The Alumni Truck will also be on-site with mum buttons.
Greek Alumni Hall of Fame
The Center for Fraternal Values and Leadership and the WVU Alumni Association will induct new members into the 2024 Greek Alumni Hall of Fame during a ceremony at 2 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.
Food Trucks on Prospect Street
Food trucks will be stationed along Prospect Street for the community to enjoy from 4:30 to 7 p.m. prior to the Homecoming Parade.
Annual Homecoming Parade
The annual Homecoming Parade will begin at 6 p.m. on High Street, featuring Duncan Lorimer and Maura McLaughlin from the Eberly College as the grand marshals, along with the other recipients of the Homecoming and Alumni Service Awards and Homecoming Court.
High Street will be closed for the duration of the Homecoming Parade. Setup will begin at 4:30 p.m. affecting driver access to streets near the parade’s starting point on North High Street, according to the Morgantown Police Department. The Homecoming Parade is expected to end by 10 p.m.
Saturday (Oct. 19) events include:
Center for Black Culture and Black Alumni Association
Open to the public, the tailgate will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Gold Lot.
Homecoming Royalty
The University will name two students “Homecoming Royalty” during a halftime ceremony at the football game against Kansas State University at Milan Puskar Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Sunday (Oct. 20) events include:
Campus Recreation will host the first Homecoming Trick or Trot at the Student Rec Center. Both race participants and spectators are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join their humans.
Race participants are also invited to join Alumni Association members following the Trick or Trot to enjoy an ice cream bar beginning at 10:30 a.m. outside the Student Rec Center.
