Mon River Sweep a success

Mon River Sweep

On West Virginia Day (June 20), the West Virginia Water Research Institute’s Three Rivers QUEST program partnered with Ascend WV to host a Monongahela River Sweep.

Thirty volunteers came out to participate and removed more than 1,225 pounds of trash from the waters, banks and trails of the Monongahela River.

The Three Rivers Quest Program, housed at the West Virginia Water Research Institute, spearheaded the event in support of its mission to preserve and protect the Monongahela, Ohio and Allegheny rivers.
