Faculty and staff are invited to learn how to help students in distress by attending a virtual Mental Health 101 Training hosted by WELLWVU and the Carruth Center from 10 to 11:30 a.m on June 13 or from noon to 1:30 p.m. on July 16.
This 90-minute training will focus on the following:
•Current national mental health statistics in addition to WVU-specific characteristics.
•Effective listening skills.
•An in-depth look at the services provided by the Carruth Center and the CARE Team.
•Warning signs of suicide.
•How to safely intervene with students who are in distress.
