Focus Forward conference to explore opportunities, risks of a digital world

The West Virginia Public Education Collaborative, based at West Virginia University, and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation will host the sixth annual Focus Forward conference Wednesday (March 27) at the Morgantown Event Center, Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.

Focus Forward: West Virginia’s Digital Destiny will feature discussions about how technologies and digitization will revolutionize the state’s workforce, economy and education system.

More than 400 business, government, education and community leaders from across West Virginia are expected to attend.

The event begins at 9 a.m.

Each year, Focus Forward addresses how emerging issues will affect West Virginia’s economy and workforce. Past topics have included artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, supercomputing assets and innovative technologies.

The conference welcomes experts from the national, state and local levels to discuss how West Virginia can best prepare to take on these issues, ready its workforce, attract new businesses and grow the economy. 

Immediately following the conference, Discover the Real West Virginia, the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and WVU Medicine will host a special reception from 4-6 p.m. featuring Dr. Ali Rezai, RNI executive chair.
