A portion of High Street will close at 8 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 11) ahead of the official U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree send-off celebration planned from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Monongalia County Courthouse Square. Spectators and participants are urged to arrive early to allow sufficient time for parking.

The 63-foot Norway spruce tree will be on display and community members will have an opportunity to sign the accompanying banner while enjoying live music, food trucks, crafts and more.

Traffic patterns are expected to return to normal by 5 p.m.

The event, coordinated by WVU, the City of Morgantown, Main Street Morgantown and the Monongalia County Commission, is a celebration of the 2023 Capitol Christmas Tree passing through West Virginia on its way to Washington for the holiday season.
