The University’s two-year project to move from outdated Cisco hardware to Zoom Phone is in the final stretch.

To support employees, Information Technology Services has coordinated virtual training sessions and strongly encourages participation.

The last training will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday (May 20).

Registrants who are unable to attend live will receive a recording of the training.

The training will provide a Zoom Workplace phone system demo, including how to access and navigate the desktop application, the optional mobile app setup, and how to access personal phone settings like business hours configuration, call handling options and voicemail greeting customizations.

Find more information and register to attend.

WVU expects to finish the system-wide transition to Zoom Phone by July. Unit points of contact will receive approximately 30 days’ notice before their scheduled migration.

Zoom Phone is a full-service, cloud-based calling solution designed to better support a large workforce with many hybrid and fully remote staff. By moving from on-premises Cisco hardware to Software as a Service, WVU will avoid more than $1 million in deferred maintenance costs. Telecommunications charges will remain at current rates until the transition is complete.
