The 2023 WVU United Way Campaign is officially underway.
Each year, the campus community rallies together to raise money for United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties. Donations are vital to supporting more than 40,000 people in Monongalia County, 45% of the population, and more than 12,000 in Preston County, 49% of the population, who have trouble meeting their basic needs.
With the funds raised, United Way ensures food pantries are stocked with healthy options, offers referrals for those who need a helping hand, works to create financially stable families, promotes early childhood education and literacy, and encourages community volunteerism.
“It is community and the sense of trust, belonging, safety, and caring for each other that commands us to do our part,” said Monica Nassif Haddad, campaign chair.
There are multiple ways to give to this year's campaign, including payroll deduction and donating online.
