LGBTQ+ Center hosts Dr. Fauci, other experts

The LGBTQ+ Center invites the public to attend the virtual panel “LGBTQ+ Healthcare: Past, Present, Future,” featuring esteemed speakers Drs. Anthony Fauci, Stef Shuster and Jesse Joad at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 24) on Zoom. 

Join us as these speakers share their insights on the evolution of health care policies and their effects on LGBTQ+ communities. This event is not just a discussion, it is a call to action. Help create a space where knowledge and compassion intersect, history informs our decisions and we unite to forge a brighter health care future.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has advised seven presidents on HIV/AIDS and other global health issues, is the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his work on the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. 

Dr. Stef Shuster is a trailblazing sociologist known for groundbreaking research on transgender health care and reshaping the understanding of health care disparities. They are an associate professor at the Department of Sociology at Lyman Briggs College and the author of “Trans Medicine: The Emergence and Practice of Treating Gender.”

A champion for the rights of LGBTQ+ youth, Dr. Jesse Joad is a professor of pediatrics and associate dean of diversity and faculty life emeritus at the UC Davis School of Medicine. He also serves as the president-elect of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equity.
