As announced, WVU is transitioning to Zoom Phone to avoid deferred maintenance costs exceeding $1 million and better support a large workforce with many hybrid and fully remote staff.
Ten more live training sessions are scheduled through the end of July. Find more information about Zoom Phone, including training dates and resources in the IT Help Center. A recorded version of the training is also available on this page.
Earlier this year, ITS, the Beckley and Keyser campuses, Student Life and several academic units successfully completed the transition. ITS will continue to migrate administrative units throughout the summer and early fall. Due to the complexity of its environment, the Health Sciences Center will migrate last, with an expected completion date of July 1, 2026.
Unit points of contact can expect to receive a 30-day notice before their scheduled migration. Zoom Phone eliminates the need for physical phones, though departments may choose to purchase them if desired. Instructions for ordering phones are available in the IT Help Center.
