WVU to observe Hazing Prevention Week with mother of Nolan Burch as keynote speaker

West Virginia University will remind students of their obligation to protect the safety and welfare of their peers by eliminating hazing during National Hazing Prevention Week, Sept. 25-29.

The West Virginia University Interfraternity, Professional Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and Panhellenic Council, with support from the WVU Hazing Prevention Task Force, will offer educational activities and events to raise awareness around the issue of hazing. 

Kimberly Burch, mother of Nolan Burch, is the keynote speaker for the Prevention Summit slated for 2 p.m. Friday (Sept. 29) in the Mountainlair Blue Ballroom. 

A screening of “Breathe, Nolan, Breathe,” followed by a question and answer period with Burch, is open to faculty, staff and students.

Faculty and staff are also invited to attend the 45-minute Hazing Prevention Advocacy Network training in the Mountainlair. Registration is not required.

• Tuesday (Sept. 26) at 1 p.m. in the Shenandoah Room

• Wednesday (Sept. 27) at 11 a.m. in the Shenandoah Room

• Thursday (Sept. 28) at 1 p.m. in the Shenandoah Room

• Friday (Sept. 29) at 1 p.m. in the Monongahela Room
