Starting with the fall 2023 semester, there are changes to the late payment policy.
Students who miss a payment deadline on any balance will be assessed a 2.95% late payment fee. In addition, students who owe any balance after the second payment deadline of the semester — which is 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 1 for fall 2023 — will be removed from their fall courses.
Removing students who owe any balance after the second payment deadline of the semester will help ensure students’ charges are covered at the beginning of the semester so they can focus on their academics and avoid accruing late payment fees and additional charges they may be unable to afford.
As always, the WVU Hub will keep students up to date on what they owe. Students can also take advantage of a fall payment plan, which opens July 5. The new and improved payment plan system in WVU MyAccount allows students to sign up immediately and automatically adjusts to account for any change in charges throughout the semester. Students who owe a balance will also receive billing notifications via their MIX email that note how to check their balance, link to payment and payment plan options, encourage them to reach out to the Hub with questions, and outline the consequences of late payment.
As the second payment deadline approaches on Sept. 1, students who are at risk of being removed will receive additional MIX email and text message reminders. A reinstatement process, which will require payment of a reinstatement fee and the full balance owed, will be available to these students after they are removed.
If a student’s balance is covered by a third-party contract, payment plan or other authorized aid by the deadline, they will not be removed from courses or assessed a late payment fee.
