WVU recently earned reaccreditation from the Association for Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs. The site visit resulted in "no findings," and AAHRPP required no changes to the University’s human research protection program.
AAHRPP is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body that uses a voluntary, peer-driven, educational model to ensure an organization’s human research protection program meets rigorous standards for quality and protection.
As the "gold seal," AAHRPP accreditation offers assurances to research participants, researchers, sponsors, government regulators and the public that an organization's human research protection program is focused, first and foremost, on excellence.
Accredited organizations renew accreditation three years after initial accreditation and every five years thereafter by performing the same self-assessment and gap analysis required for the initial accreditation application.
The University’s human research protection program has been AAHRPP accredited since 2008.
