To better align research operations more closely with the University’s mission and infrastructure, the institution will retire 1RS awards on June 30.
The awards previously served as internal Research Corporation subawards that supported the charging of personnel costs on state-issued sponsored projects.
Following the transition of Research Corporation employees to direct University employment in October 2025, the internal awards are no longer needed to support business operations.
Effective July 1, the Research Office and Shared Services Center will no longer recognize 1RS awards.
Prior to June 30, all 1RS awards must have all invoices paid, be reconciled within the unit and be closed in consultation with OSP and the SSC. After this date, the internal Research Corporation subawards will be officially terminated and no further transactions can take place against the 1RS awards.
It is critical that units conduct a thorough review of all sponsored projects including a 1RS award to ensure any pending labor distribution adjustments and/or outstanding invoices can be processed as soon as possible to meet the established deadline.
