TEDxWVU

TEDxWVU, WVU’s student-run organization, is proud to announce its sixth independently organized TEDx event Sunday, April 16, at the Canady Creative Arts Center in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre.

TEDxWVU is seeking speakers to present talks that will spark deep discussion and connection surrounding this year’s theme, “Dig Deeper.” The application period closes on March 1.

Speaker applications can be found at TEDxWVU or on social media @tedxwvu.

Past event speakers include Emily Calandrelli, executive producer and host of FOX’s “Xploration Outer Space;” Ginny Thrasher, WVU alumna and 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist; Nicole Russell, author of “Everything a Band-Aid Can’t Fix;” and Dr. Clay Marsh, chancellor and executive dean of WVU Health Sciences.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to ideas worth spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives.

Two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available for free at TED.com.

TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia.
