WVU Alert test to include push notifications via LiveSafe app

To ensure proper communication during an emergency, the WVU Alert system for the Morgantown campus will be tested at 1 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 18).

In addition to notifications via email and text, those who have downloaded the LiveSafe mobile app and allowed notifications will receive push notifications.

Learn more about the LiveSafe app.

The University strongly encourages all students, faculty and staff to download the LiveSafe mobile app and to register both their email addresses and cell phone numbers with the WVU Alert system.

Current students are already subscribed to the WVU Alert system, but should check their accounts for accuracy. Faculty and staff must sign up to add their contact information to the system. Those already in the system should review their information before Wednesday’s test.

The WVU Alert system utilizes a three-tiered notification system — WVU Alert, Campus Warning, Community Notice — to inform the University community about emergencies and other incidents near campus.

This allows the University to communicate as effectively as possible with faculty, staff, students, parents and other community members with guidance provided by the Clery Act.
