WVU to host annual Pearl Harbor Day remembrance ceremony

The University community is invited to the Pearl Harbor Day ceremony at 3 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 7) to mark the 81st anniversary of the attacks and to honor the lives lost.

The ceremony will be held at the USS West Virginia mast and bell in front of Oglebay Hall. U.S. Army Brigadier General Hope Rampy is the keynote speaker for the event and there will be a 21-gun salute with three volleys being fired. 

Those wishing to attend the event in person are asked to arrive early. Those who cannot attend in person should follow @wvumountaineers and @WVUVeteransHQ on Facebook and @WestVirginiaU and @WVUVeterans on Twitter. 

Following the ceremony, many participants will attend the WVU men's basketball military appreciation game against Navy. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at the Coliseum.
