Vote now for PRT mural project theme

PRT mural

West Virginia University is planning to turn parts of its PRT stations into works of art and your input is needed.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the larger University community are invited to vote for an overall theme for future PRT station murals created by students.

Voting ends Wednesday (Nov. 2).

Vote now.

Over time, each of the stations — Walnut, Beechurst, Engineering, Towers and Health Sciences — will feature a mural that ties into the larger theme.

There are three proposed themes.

Purpose

Finding purpose is a journey, not a destination. In colors of gold and blue, pursuits of purpose are illustrated, encouraging those passing by to consider their larger “why?” as they move through their daily activities.

Values

The University values of Service, Curiosity, Respect, Accountability and Appreciation are illustrated separately through murals at each station using a WVU-inspired color palette, challenging PRT riders to think about what it means to truly be a Mountaineer.

Icons and Traditions

The facade of Woodburn Hall, the Mountaineer’s coonskin cap, the Flying WV, pepperoni rolls and other University icons are illustrated with bold colors, patterns and textures, a reminder of the unique items that unite Mountaineer Nation.

The winning theme will be announced during Mountaineer Week, along with the proposal application process, project guidelines and timeline.

Students will work with the University's Public Art Committee to create and paint the first mural this spring.
