Getting Started with the Library’s New Search Tool | EBSCO Discovery Service
The Library’s new search tool, EBSCO Discovery Service, allows users to search for and discover the majority of resources in the WVU Libraries’ collection using a single search box. Come learn how to use and personalize your access to resources.

Explore the basics of conducting a systematic literature review, including how to frame a research question, developing a search strategy, and searching the biomedical literature databases.

Researching West Virginia State Legislation
In this workshop participants will learn how to locate and utilize resources for current and historical West Virginia Legislation. In addition to resources for bills and laws, users will also be provided with an introduction on how to find supporting documents including current and historical legislative histories, hearings, documents, and prints.

What Works Best for You: Web of Science, Google Scholar, Scopus
In this workshop participants will explore three comprehensive peer-review search engines and database to discover advantages and values.

Introduction to U.S. Census Data
Participants will be introduced to the various U.S. Bureau of Census surveys and how to access the available demographic data from the surveys using the data platform, census.data.gov. Additionally, participants will learn how to use the library GIS tool, Social Explorer, for demographic mapping and IPUMS to retrieve public use microsample data samples.

This workshop will introduce participants to using R and RStudio to scrape twitter. Participants are expected to have attended the First Steps with R and RStudio workshop or to have some basic knowledge of using R. Participants will need to download and install R and RStudio prior to the workshop. Both software items are open-source and free to download. Participants will also need to bring their own laptop to the workshop.
