Faculty are asked to encourage students to submit their writing about Appalachia to the SpeakWrite Mountaineer Week Writing Appalachia Contest by Oct. 10.
Students may submit brief scholarly essays, short creative works, editorials, how-to manuals, engaging research reports, science blogs, or any other written text that focuses on Appalachia in some way.

First place ($100), second place ($75), and third place ($50) prizes will be awarded. Winners will be announced during Mountaineer Week and featured on the SpeakWrite website.
